Syndicate

Amiga game review, ADF downloads, screenshots, ratings and insights
Syndicate is a dark, violent cyberpunk themed game heavily inspired by the likes of Blade Runner, Neuromancer and quite possibly the Shadowrun universe.

Released in 1993, frankly the opening intro movie is absolutely breathtaking. The art direction and sound are exquisite, and forced some to turn the machine off and back on again just to watch it again.

The main jist of this game is to take your team of medically enhanced cyborgs to perform rather violent missions of assassination against other company bad guys. There's a bit of a steep early learning curve to understanding how to manipulate your units. And, oddly, when entering buildings you can't actually see inside - your cyborgs disappear from the main view and you have to track them using a GPS of sorts (a design flaw, in my opinion). Where the SNES' Shadowrun excels in RPG atmosphere, story and environments, Syndicate excels in realism, strategy/tactics and fast-paced missions.

If you have an Amiga that can push the pixels, it's a must-have. Syndicate is definitely a showcase in technology and fun.
