Recovering Atari ST ASIC Designs

by intric8 Thu Aug 25, 2016 8:44 am

Really interesting post by Christian Zietz, a German electrical engineer, about a “treasure trove” of files released on old Syquest and floppy disks from Atari HQ.

Beyond uncovering data regarding an unfinished game console, after a lot of work Zietz was able to recover several original files dating to the late 80s containing chip design schematics.
I loaded the first of the modified disk images into Virtual PC, started FastBack, held my breath and hit restore. Astonishingly, the software began to restore this almost 27 year old backup.

Very interesting investigation going on by Christian.
