New Commodore Hardware from Hungary (SX64 / C16 / more)

Hey all,

once again I surfed the interweb and stumbled over a cool homepage of a hardware developer from Hungary. Right now, he offers 12 items, but the following 2 have caught my attention:

Commodore C16 Internal RAM upgrade to 64k
This is - imho - a very elegant way to upgrade your beloved C16 to 64KB RAM, without the necessity of cutting circuit paths on the C16 main board. Some basic soldering skell are required though.

Commodore SX64 5.6” Screen Replacement
Since the SX-64 is a very rare diamond, it might be necessary to replace a defective screen. Well, here's a flat screen solution. The developer even links to a guys who has 3d-printed a mountinmg frame for it.

What do you guys think of those neat inventiones?

I had run across this site when I acquired my SX-64 in May and was looking at the screen replacement option. But after reading about it, the work scared me off and I decided to keep things as-is. But it's pretty cool for sure if you have the time, skills and courage.

I also found that site once before for it's impressive Multimedia Breakout adapter. I never bought one when I first heard about it, though, and it's out of stock these days.

That SX screen option-wow! I mean, mine currently works. But the day it dies...and it will die... will be a tragic one. Thinking of stocking one up for insurance.

Digging around for some info on the LCD setup and found this insanely tricked out SX done by the one of the Nightfall guys. Check the description:
Here the specs (10/8/2017):

Added:

LCD Monitor 5.6" model: Pollin JD567M03/AT056TN52
New Flash Memory SMD MX25L4006E to enable the SVIDEO for the LCD Monitor (not enabled by default) Thanks to Marty Radwar.
SX-64 LCD Display Mounting Frame + front glass - Designs by Thomas Koch.
DUAL SID (6581/8580) switchable with a keyboard shortcut (Keyman64) and a Bicolor led status monitor.
Replaced the wrong 6581 filter capacitors on all SX-64 (22000pf instead of 470pf)
New TFT Controller Board (Volume/TFT Monitor Settings..and so on..) by Zipcom.
Standby Pololu Pushbutton Mosfets Power Switches. Battery charging even if it off.
Automatic Low Voltage Disconnect Module LVD, Protect/Prolong Battery Life.
Reroute the main power switch.
Small Audio Amplifier + Pololu Mosfets Power Switches for remote control.
Small Oval Speaker.
2 x 12v 3.5A Batteries in series for a total of 24v 3.5A.
Battery locking system for easy maintenance.
SCP-75-24 Mean Well Switching PSU with Battery Backup and Battery charger of 27.6V 2.7A.
78T05 & 78T12 (3A Positive Fixed Voltage Regulator) to fix the problem of the high frequencies which are perceived in the audio section caused by the two DC-DC converters.
Ultimate 1541-II inside the original Floppy Drive.
Programmable Battery level voltage monitor.
DC-DC Converters.
BlueTooh Module v4.1+EDR for optional Audio Output.
Suppressor Filter for the LCD Monitor.
USB Female, extension of the Ultimate 1541-II (inside the storage compartment)
Keyman64 to control the peripherals via keyboard shortcuts. (like poweroff LCD Monitor/Bluetooth/Audio Amplifer/U1541 II Buttons ..and so on..)
Overlay64 to write information and status on the screen (Overlapping)
Delayed power up the LCD monitor to avoid sync problems for a few seconds on power up caused by the overlay64. I have used a Pololu Mosfets Power Switches remotely controlled by Keyman64.
Automatic Fan Temperature Circuit (On/Off/Speed). I have used a SUNON MAGLev FAN HA60151V4-000U-999 which requires only 52mA.
Bluetooth Status LED (flashing search/stable found)

Summary of the LEDs status:

- Floppy RED LED (Floppy Reading/Writing)
- BIG GREEN (RGB multiColor) LED Battery Status.
- RED LED (8580) - GREEN (6581)
- YELLOW / RED LED (1541 Ultimate Status/D64 Mount/SDCard)
- BLUE Bluetooth Status LED (flashing search/stable found)

Battery Life:

2 Hours.
2 Days in Standby

Removed parts:

CRT Monitor.
Some part of the Floppy Disk Drive.
Disk Drive Controller.
Original PSU
Unfortunately, the video is not much of exploration of these mods-but impressive that all these things went into the final unit. One thing not mentioned-weight savings. The SX is a HEAVY beast. I'd bet there was significant weight loss going on.

So I ordered a Commodore Multimedia Breakout for C64 and I then sent an email asking about the 300Ω smd resistor and the section "There is an option on the panel to a 300 smd resistor for the modern LED TV's, default is shorted. "

As I didn't want to solder anything and he messged me back in like 20 min. There is a NEW v2 board that has a jumper to switch between using the resistor and to not use it!!

He was also kind enough to send me a picture of it and it looks GREAT!!
Once I get it I'll post a youtube review!!

Hey guys,

some days ago, the 64k Internal RAM-Upgrade for the Commodore C16 has arrived and I thought I'd show it to you guys (before I put it into my precious C16).
