Ya for me it's all about GEOS 128 2.0 these days. I think for a few others it is still the BBS hosting benefits.

A friend of mine swapped his out recently with the Turbo Chameleon for his board, and it's unfair how fast and snappy his BBS is now. (not to mention the acceleration boost, too, which is faster than the SuperCPU!)

Noice. The REU and Speed of the TC must be a major boon to a BBS.

Eric,

Does the TC provide acceleration when used in cartridge mode, or, only in standalone mode? Is your friend using it on a 64?

Yes - the TC can provide acceleration in cartridge mode. This is precisely how I play the new Super Mario game. I load the game up on the TC via a CRT file. And the game auto-detects it.

But the TC won't accelerate every game you play with it. It's kinda like the SuperCPU in that regard.

Important: It turns out the TC can not be used with a 128. It could fry it, which is a massive flaw.

Was finally able to put my 1750 to use on my Commodore 128D! ;)

I also have a 1750 and attached it to my NTSC C128Dcr to play sonic off an original 1581.

For me, the game wouldn't even load. I assume you're using v1.1 that dropped yesterday which was supposed to fix the problem. So are you telling it during launch to not use the 128's acceleration?

I've yet to find a single NTSC hardware combo that works with the Sonic port that's not janky or ultimately broken. I was convinced it needed to be played on either PAL, or FPGA set to PAL, or possibly just using VICE.

I get all kinds of screen garbage, game speeds that speed up and slow down at certain times, and god forbid you press down on your joystick to make him turn into a ball. It'll simply lock the game up (sometimes it will hard-lock the game entirely).

Example.
