Amiga 2000 case clean up

I bought an empty Amiga 2000 case from eBay. It was delivered last week. I am planning a project where I will build a new A2000 into this case. The current plan is to use a new replica A2000 PCB and to populate this with components. The case was in good shape. However, there were a few marks on it. So - I decided to do a bit of a cleanup job on it. :D

Firstly, I dissassembled as much as I could. This involved unscrewing and removing the plastic front panel from the metal top case and then removing the drive bays from the panel. I then simply washed in the Utility room sink with a washing up block and a washing up block. Simply soap and warm water.

There were quite a few places with white marks on the case. Not really sure what the cause of these was. Perhaps Tippex or white paint. They came off pretty easliy with just a bit of scrubbing.

Also had a few scuff marks on the drive bay covers. These also came off easy enough.

There was some nasty black marking inside one edge of the case. I came to realise that this was actually caused by the remnants of the warranty sticker. The glue from the sticker had caused this part of the case to become sticky and then dust and gunk had become stuck over the years. This was not so easy to get off with soap and water but I did my best. Anyone got any ideas about a good solvent to remove the remnants of the glue?

Finally, the finished article.

Next Steps? I would like to get the remnants of the black glue gunk off the inside. As for the rest of the project, I am waiting for Aciil to get back from Spain so that I can get my order in for a nice blue A2000 replica PCB and the Bill Of Materials for this. The Bill of materials is not on the GitHub page ( unfortunately ).

If anyone has the BOM for this project, then I would love to see it. Once I have the PCB and the components, that's when the hard soldering work will begin. :D

I notice that there are couple of things missing from my case. There are no drive bay mounting cages / platforms. Also - I remember my old A1500 had a black metal strut running from front to back. Think that was for structural strength. So - I am after both of these things, if anyone knows where I can source them?

Finally - if I could find an old non working A2000 which I could use for parts then that would likely save me a lot of money. So - if anyone knows where i can get one of these, then please let me know. I would be happy to pay a fair price, of course. I have been watching eBay avidly, however, nothing is coming up at the right price at the moment.

Try 99% isopropyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, or acetone to remove the black gunk. One of them should do it (isopropyl is probably the weakest of the bunch). If you are afraid to use these chemicals, orange solvent or GooGone (brand name) citrus solvent might do it.

WD-40 is also great for removing rubber/glue spots.

Thanks. I will try both those two.
