ACA500 plus questions

Hi all.

This one is for anyone that uses or has used an ACA500 plus on an A500

I plan to have 2 versions of WB / kickstart running.

One will be WB 1.3 (for nostalgic reasons)
And the other WB 3.1.4.

I have a dual kickstart rom with 1.3 and 3.1. And I have a 3.1.4 rom coming.

Currently I have the cloanto WB 1.3 floppies, and the 3.1.4 floppies in the mail.

My question revolves around CF card sizes. Right now I have 3x 4GB cards.

Plan is to have one for each version of WB and one as a PC formatted card for file transfers.

Should I be looking to get a larger card for the 3.1.4 install ?

Back in the day my original A500 had only 40MB hdd and I remember this being huge. Should I get a 16GB card for the 3.1.4 WB install or is the 4GB going to be enough ?

Jason.

Hi,

to be honest I am not sure I fully understand what you are planning to do.

The ACA500+ already got an option to use different kickstarts. No need for a switch.

Also, you can set up your HDD to be multiboot with an 1.3/3.x setup. Depending on the KA you would boot into the respective partition.

For both, some dozen MB for the OS alone more than enough. Games, apps and what have you can be installed to the second CF, which is hotplug (I think).

Cheers,
McT

A lot of the features of the aca500 plus I really haven’t explored, as I still have to finish cleaning up the amigas. I mainly wanted it as a hdd solution and ram adder, bonus is the clock speed increases.

I have already acquired the rom, so might as well use it.

I didn’t know that I could multi boot to either os, that’s why I bought the 2 cards, thinking I would need one for each version of WB.

Guess I have a lot to still learn once I start using the ACA500 plus.

Jason.

Our own @Dynamic_Computing did a video on the ACA500+ on his youtube channel.
