Amiga 1200 Repair

I have an Amiga 1200 that I recently pulled out of moth balls. I powered the unit on and discovered that the internal floppy drive, while it spins up, doesn't read disks. A search of YouTube led me to several videos demonstrating self floppy repairs. While I'm not a tech newbie, I realized that this was somewhat beyond my abilities. I did connect an external floppy (that works!!) and was able to boot to Workbench but couldn't get much further past that point. It appears my Amiga Mouse may be malfunctioning. Because of this, I was unable to check HDToolbox to try to figure out why my hard drive failed to boot.

Anyway, where I'm going with this is, is there a reputable repair person or center in the U.S. that would be able to diagnose the issues and then repair them? Of course, the unit will have to be recapped as well. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Same here. Got A1200 motherboard which has IDE issues. Looking for someone who can take a look at it.

In case you haven't seen it mentioned before, the capacitors used in the A1200 are extremely prone to failing. If that happens, all kinds of additional damage can occur.

Old Amigas (just like old Commodore 8-bit machines) generally "last forever" in most cases. But the A600, A1200 and A4000 are notorious for having caps that fail when they get to be as old as they are now. Especially if they've been put in storage for several years; the caps can dry out.

Something to keep on your radar for sure.

I've not used their services before, but you may want to reach out to Amiga of Rochester to discuss your machine's symptoms and get a quote. He's also posted here before, too.

You could also reach out to Acill as well, depending on his workload.
