I hope I'm saying this right but when I set up my zip drive it apparently ended up with BACKUP: for a 'unit' instead of something like DZ0: (i'm an idiot basically)

I know each partition gets its own name which you can reference but i'm talking about the specific designation like how the first floppy drive is DF0, second is DF1, etc, regardless of what zip disk i put in the drive the designation is always BACKUP: for the 'unit' when I run info in a shell.

Is there any chance I can change this?

Thanks!

Just a guess but have you tried using HDInstTool on a Zip?

I've got to think it's a driver thing. . . Which one are you using?

I seem to remember that DirMaster (I) had one such option.

If this is a partition on your hard drive you need to use HDToolBox to change it.

If you want an easy fix, you could just use an ASSIGN in your startup-sequencer or user-startup, ie:

assign BACKUP: DZ0:

Any time you used DZ0: it would really be using BACKUP. This works with anything that supports AmigaDOS.
