You did not say if you have one or two internal floppy drives. IIRC you have to close (short J301) if you have two internals, so that the external port will read an attached drive. J301 open means only one internal floppy and so the external sees itself as the second drive. I don't know if adding an external drive causes the non-boot problem you have though, all I got was that DF1: did not read, and that can even be because I did not set the floppy jumper from DF0: to DF1:. You never mentioned any board corrosion from a bad clock backup battery, no problems there? I have a 2000 that was working when I put it in storage in my garage (Now I know that is a no no in Florida), and it was non-working when I got it out a few years later, bad clock battery. Tom
