The quest for a hard-drive goes on!

Now I am trying to add a card to winuae to format it there.

Tried with 3 different card, all the settings I could think of. It just dont show up in winUAE.

Any tips on what I am doing wrong?

Tried following guides online, but I just cannot get it to show in the HD tools in the emulator.

Ack - that's a frustrating feeling, I know.

I'll try to hook one up this weekend and follow my steps for you. It's never a 1:1 situation (i.e. it worked for me so should for you) as I'll be using different drivers than you I'm pretty sure. But that wouldn't explain your WinUAE issue (which I don't use as I'm on a Mac).

I'll just use classic hardware and go from there. I have to prepare for a presentation in a week, but I'll try to find the time and see what I see.

Generally, please remove any partitions on that drive completely.

First, make sure to run WinUAE as administrator.

Second, use "add hard drive" - in your screenshot, "creat imgae ..." is selected.

WithinUAE, right-click on either HDToolBox or HDinstTools and modify the device to be scanned.

For added harddisks it should be uaehf.device.

Does the card show up?

Progress! Its now recognized and formating in 1.3

Configuring for the correct uaehf device was the key to get it to pop up in UAE.

Will see if it works when this is done in like 1 hour.

You can format it in WinUAE, e.g. with an 030 processor emulated.
Put a filesystem in RDB, too.

And please remember to only quickformat any HDD!

All good now.

It works like a charm and boots straight up in to 1.3.

Thanks for the help guys!
