Can i ask here about setting up an emulator? If not, please discard this.
I am trying to set up WinUAE 4.0.1.
I am at the part where the emulator works, and it shows me the animated floppy disk
going into the drive.
The next part is concerning the floppy drives on the emulator.
I require the necessary file/s, (ADF), to get the DF0 and DF1, to work.
I will have more questions regarding the set-up, including the file/s required to create
a Hard Drive, but for now, it`s the file/s for the floppy drives i need.
I have been watching a video on YouTube, and it is this that has enabled me to get this far.
However, the guy on the video does not inform you as to where to access the file/s.
Can anyone tell me where i can get them, and how to install?
I am in bad health, so i am hoping that i can get the emulator up and running, and play
a few of the old classic Amiga games, before my health suffers.
Thank you all, in advance.

@jonnyenglish, I am not an expert on WinUAE, but looking at your screenshot it looks like you need the ADF (Amiga Disk Format) disk images. You would download those files from, cough cough, a site that hosts them. And generally speaking, once pointed to on your machine they would fire right up.

So, for example, if you have a bubble-bobble.ADF file, you'd point to it with DF0: and it should start right up.

I actually host several ADFs here on AmigaLove if you look up in the header and click on "Games Library". Granted, I only host ADFs for games I've reviewed, and there are less than 100 of them so far (it takes a long time).

If you tell me some of the games you'd like to play, I can source them for you and send you a link.

Let me know what you're interested in.

On a more important note, I'm very sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope they aren't too serious. Take care.

intric8, thank you for your reply.
I just need the ADF files to load into the floppy drive section for now.
Since you have given me somewhere to look, i will look (try) there.
If you read my intro, (which i know you did :D ), i think you will know
what the first three (or maybe 4), i would be after.
I am not techy inclined, so i have to learn about it. It`s driving me insane
that i have now one of those slots for the floppy drive done, (pic), which
worked as it was shown in the video, and i had the Workbench loaded.
However, the next part ruined it because i then had to add a hardfile.
What i put in there i am not sure if it is correct, (pic) but when i tried the
emulator again, the workbench came up, i clicked on Install 3.1, then
HD Toolbox, then HD Toolbox again, but everything was greyed out.
The video said that if nothing is listed in the box above, then you have
issues, so i guess i have issues. Now i just need for someone to direct me
on that part. Is the file in that part correct (as i know the floppy part is done),
or have i added a file that shouldn`t be there? If so, can someone help
me out on this too?
Regarding my health, it`s a serious issue which i really do not want to mention.
I want people to help and advise me until i get this done, and then share my
game play with you guy`s, without making this a "feel sorry for you" post.
Thanks again.

Understood.

So an HDF file is someone's hard drive image. A complete hard drive backup. To be completely honest, if all you want to do is play some games that might be overkill. It's possible the HDF you found has a lot of pre-installed software/games, which is cool.

But if you just want to play some games, give me a few minutes (I'm in the middle of Ultima IV and need to find a quick place to save my game). :)

I'll be back soon.
Cheers

Let's keep things simple and try to just get a game that uses a single disk (ADF) working first.

Here is Joe Blade for you. Unzip that and load the ADF and see what happens.

Good Luck! :)

To be absolutely honest with you, that`s all i want to do, play games again.
If i do not have to go through all that mess about setting up an Hard Drive
etc etc, that will be fine with me. Just give me a game, and Emulator i can play it on
and then, i`m happy. Of course i will have to find instructions on how to load
the games onto it, but it cannot be any harder than what i was trying to do
initially. YouTube here i come again lol.
Can i ask, what game are you playing, and what games do you play?
Ever played any of the old games that use to come on floppies?
I am going back year`s with this, and don`t laugh, but i was got hold of a game
that my daughter was obsessed with. Chuckie Egg !!!. I said don`t laugh lol.
I had to wait until her bedtime before i could get my Amiga back lol.
Anyway, thank you yet again. I am off to YouTube again :|
If you have a private message box somewhere on here, i can tell you what my
health issue is. I really don`t mind saying it, but like i said before................
Thanks.

Oh man - what games do I play? That’s a long weird list indeed. I love virtually anything that is D&D/RPG related:

“Gold Box” adventures from SSI
Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2
Dungeon Master
Starflight
Etc.

Pretty much anything Lucasfilm/Arts ever made...

Right now I’m deep into Ultima IV, which is WAY harder than I expected.

I love Canon Fodder, too, but never finished it. It’s brilliant, though.

I also love Infocom games, as painfully difficult as they are for me.

And on the C64? Oh man the list is long. Lately though it’s been all about new games which often surpass their old ancestors in looks and quality. That scene is on fire these days.

Truly, Commodore is going through a second golden age. I love it all.

I’m also an unapologetic Nintendo fan and get my fix across multiple systems there, too.

Well, i think i am nearly there.
I have the Winuae set up to the computer of my choice, (for now A4000), and all
the configurations are set. I just have one problem.
All my games are ADF, and i have them stored in a folder on my desktop.
As you can see in the pic, i inserted a game into the DF0.
I clicked start and it loaded up.
I have the main window of the game loaded, but when i click the mouse, i am
left with a blank black screen. It just hangs there until i close the emulator. It
surely cannot be a big problem, but i do not know the answer to it.
Any advice please?
Thank you.
