My A500 is waiting on the arrival of a replacement internal df0. This has given me time to think about where I want to go with this hobby. I found my old books about OS 1.1 and 1.2. I've never been in the physical presence of an Amiga running OS 2.x or 3.x. It would be nice to have a book so I don't bombard people with novice questions. I realize such a book would be long out of print. I'm hoping to get lucky at a retro games convention or even the local thrift shops. Ebay is an option as well.

Thank you.

Interesting idea :)
Now that you bring it up it would be nice to have something like this.
I usually browse sites such as http://wiki.abime.net or other online resources. However, these may not always be correct and they they are of course not updated to 3.1.4.
And the few books that I am aware of are hardcore technical stuff.

Hi, for 3.0 check here. (Amiga Workbench A-Z), never had a PDF of it nor saw it around so probably your best shoot for it is Amazon and if you want the 1200 insider guide, that one i have :)
and here: look for Users Guide
Workbench 3.0 pdf

and for 3.9

last but not least, give it a quick browse here.
