If you grew up in the 1980s there is a strong likelihood that at some stage you were inspired to write a program into your Vic 20, Commodore 64 or Amiga Computer. You either looked in the back of magazines for a short program to painstakingly copy, or you found a book at the library (usually in vain or way over your head).

The Usborne Electronics series of programming books were simply brilliant and aimed directly at kids. Gorgeously illustrated, they opened the world to programming in highly imaginative ways. Andnow, many of those books are free to download in PDF form.

Including: And many more timeless classics responsible for inspiring kids to get into the computer field in the years to follow. You might even want to grab a copy (some are found on Amazon for about $3) for your own kids. They'll have to try out the programs on your old machine, but that's OK. Isn't it?
